SBR Bonding Agent - Biokil Crown

Multi-Purpose Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Latex for Bonding, Admixture & Surface Priming

Biokil Crown SBR Bonding Agent is a high-performance, water-based styrene-butadiene latex admixture used to enhance the performance of cementitious mixes and improve adhesion between surfaces. It is suitable for use as a bonding agent, primer, mortar additive, and waterproofing enhancer in rendering, screeding, and tanking applications. This versatile product increases flexibility, reduces shrinkage, and improves water and chemical resistance.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Improved Bond Strength: Enhances adhesion between cementitious materials and existing substrates.
  • Water Resistance: Significantly improves resistance to water and moisture ingress in tanking and waterproofing systems.
  • Increased Flexibility: Reduces cracking, shrinkage, and improves resistance to frost and vibration.
  • Multi-Purpose Use: Suitable for use in renders, screeds, repair mortars, tile adhesives, and slurry primers.
  • Internal & External Applications: Suitable for a wide range of cement-based construction and refurbishment uses.

Product Details

  • Type: Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) latex admixture
  • Form: Milky white liquid
  • Packaging: 5L and 25L containers
  • Chemical Base: Water-based SBR polymer
  • Application: Bonding agent, surface primer, or mix additive
  • Coverage: Variable depending on use (typically 6–8m²/litre as a primer)

Typical Applications

  • As a bonding agent for cement-based screeds and renders
  • As a primer before applying tanking slurries or waterproof coatings
  • As an admixture for repair mortars to enhance flexibility and durability
  • To improve waterproofing performance in damp-proofing applications

Application Instructions

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, sound, and free of oil, grease, or loose material.
  2. Mixing: For bonding slurry, mix SBR with cement in a 1:1 to 1:2 ratio (by volume). For mortar or screed, replace part of the gauging water with diluted SBR.
  3. Priming: Apply bonding slurry to the prepared surface and lay fresh mortar or render while tacky.
  4. Curing: Protect from rapid drying and frost during the curing period.

Limitations

  • Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or to frozen surfaces.
  • Not suitable for use as a standalone waterproofing system.

Health & Safety

Wear suitable PPE including gloves and eye protection. Avoid skin and eye contact. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full health and handling instructions.
