Heavy-Duty Waterproofing and Corrosion Protection

EVERBUILD® BLACK JACK® 901 is a solvent-based, full-bodied black bituminous paint that dries to form an odourless, taint-free film. It provides a waterproof, weatherproof, and corrosion-resistant protective coating suitable for various building surfaces.

Ideal For

• Protecting metal structures like corrugated iron sheets, fire escapes, stairways, ladders, storage tanks, gutters, downpipes, fences, railings, and gates.
• Providing a protective coating for concrete structures, stone, brick, concrete screeds, and sand/cement surfaces.
• Overcoating felt and wood.

Product Details

• Packaging: 25L tin.

• Chemical Base: Solvent-based bitumen.
• Density: Approximately 0.9 g/cm³ at 20°C.
• Viscosity: 700–1200 cP.
• Service Temperature: -20°C to +50°C.
• Shelf Life: 24 months from date of manufacture in tightly sealed, undamaged containers.

Application Instructions

1. Ensure surfaces are sound, stable, clean, and dry.
2. Remove rust from metal surfaces using a wire brush.
3. For long-term protection, treat metal surfaces with a rust-inhibitive product like red lead or zinc phosphate.
4. Roughen new galvanised surfaces with a wire brush or treat with a proprietary etch primer.
5. Prime porous surfaces with BLACK JACK® Bitumen & Flashing Primer.
6. Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
7. Apply using a brush or spray without thinning.
8. Apply a minimum of two coats, allowing the first coat to dry (typically 2–4 hours) before applying the second.

Limitations

• Not suitable for areas where subsequent solvent contact is likely.
• Do not use for potable drinking water tanks.
• Avoid inhalation of vapours in confined spaces.
• Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
• May bleed through paints applied over it; apply a suitable primer before overpainting.

Cleaning of Tools

Clean tools with white spirit immediately after use. Wipe off any spillage before the bitumen paint has set.
