Antifreeze Rapid Setter - Biokil Crown

Biokil Crown Antifreeze Rapid Setter

Accelerating & Frost-Proofing Admixture for Cementitious Applications

Biokil Crown Antifreeze Rapid Setter is a liquid admixture designed to accelerate the setting time of cement-based mortars, concrete, screeds, and renders. It also provides frost protection during the setting period, even in sub-zero temperatures, making it ideal for cold weather applications.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Accelerated Setting: Reduces setting times, allowing for faster finishing, even in cold conditions.
  • Frost Protection: Provides protection down to -8°C in wet mortar during the setting period.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for mortars (non-reinforced), floor screeds, internal and external cement-based rendering, and non-structural concrete.
  • Plugging Aid: Can be mixed neat with cement for emergency repair plugging.

Product Details

  • Appearance: Clear green liquid.
  • Active Content: 20–30% Calcium Chloride w/v.
  • Specific Gravity (20°C): Approximately 1.2.
  • pH: 9–11.
  • Packaging: Available in 5 Litre and 25 Litre containers.
  • Storage: Store at moderate temperatures; will reconstitute by stirring after freezing.
  • Shelf Life: Minimum 2 years when stored as per manufacturer's instructions.

Application Instructions

  1. Dosage: Add 2.5 to 5 litres per 50kg of cement, depending on the degree of acceleration required.
  2. Mixing: Add to the mix at the same time as water. Reduce the required quantity of water accordingly.
  3. Temperature Considerations: All materials must be free from ice, and the temperature of the mix prior to placing should not be less than 4°C.
  4. Post-Application: Cover concrete after placing until the minimum strength is obtained or until the temperature rises above freezing.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for use in mixes containing High Alumina Cement.
  • Do not overdose or mix with other additives in the same gauging water.
  • Not suitable for structural concrete or where brick ties are present.

Health & Safety
